Great analysis.

Why we aren’t seeing more chatter around saving, staring, and reviewing in Google Maps is beyond me. That has single handedly machete’d Yelp/4Sq on my phone. I even type names of food into Google Maps to see what’s nearby. Food! And the results are usually quite good.

This kind of integration — simple, quiet, perfectly timed, and contextual is the thing that kills. Still convinced that of all the products (search included) Google has made, Maps might yet be the most transformative / influential. Nothing has so altered my ability to move through space with as much insight or confidence as Maps. Take away Google search, but don’t you dare make force me into Apple Maps.
